Oh yeah. The original in all its 1D glory. You know the theme song just popped into your head when you saw that image. This was THE video game to have on the original Nintendo gaming system. If it decided to crap out, you blew in the bottom of the cartridge, maybe smacked the system around a little bit, and bam! It worked. We didn't need Google. We had our own brains.
And don't kid yourself to thinking that you didn't move that rectangle controller all over the place trying to make Mario jump higher or farther. We were ahead of our times then, weren't we?

Oh, the memories. I still play Mario now, and the eighties is where it all started for me. Thanks for the nostalgia hit!
Omg that right there is my childhood.
I love Mario, hell I'm sitting here right now with a Mario and Yoshi tee on. Mario ftw.
I confess I never played Mario... but the theme song that sticks with me was something from the Sega called "Jungle Boy." Mostly I remember the skateboard he would ride, and the (recognizable even to my middle school self and my pals) blatantly racist depiction of "jungle natives."
Of course, Mario had magic mushrooms, so go figure.
I definitely still play Mario. It got me through long nights of procrastination in college :-)
Thanks for bringing such joy to my day!
Now I want my Nintendo back!
Haha, I loved this :) Thanks for the memories.

Love old school Mario - still remember the excitement of finding the secret warps lol
Thankfully, we still have ours and a few other of our favorite video games (like the 1st Legend of Zelda) ...
Thanks for posting this :)
