Book Wars (21)

A day late. Sorry about that. Life happens. Anyway, Seven Tears into the Sea barely skims by as the winner of last week's battle. This week, I'm keeping with the fishes and making you choose again. FIGHT!

Sirena is cursed because she cannot become immortal unless she is loved by a human man yet the siren songs she and her mermaid sisters sing leads men to their deaths. As a result, Sirena hides when she discovers an injured young soldier, Philoctetes, abandoned on the isle of Lemnos. Sirena secretly saves his life and finally allows him to see her. The two fall in love but when Philoctetes' shipmates return for him, Sirena must decide whether or not to let him return home. (from

In a quiet fishing village seventeen years ago, one lone fisherman rescued a child from the sea. He and his wife raised the girl, Pearl, as their own daughter, never allowing themselves to wonder long about where she came from — or notice her silver hair, usually pale skin, and wide, dark blue eyes.

Pearl grows from a mysterious child into an unusual young woman, not always welcomed in the village. As all the other girls her age find husbands, she has only one friend to ease her loneliness. One very special, secret companion: Prince James.

But their friendship is shaken when trouble erupts in the kingdom — a conspiracy against the royal family combines with an evil enchantment from beneath the sea. Now, just when Pearl and James need each other most, bewitching magic and hints about Pearl's past threaten to tear them apart...forever. (from

I like the cover of the top book better, but think that I'd enjoy the bottom book more. I like reading books where royalty are involved.

Never heard of either until right now, though would have to choose MIDNIGHT PEARLS. It sounds the best of the two, and I would most likely read it over the other.

Sirena was one of my favorite books as a kid. I've never read the other book, but Sirena definitely gets my vote.

I vote Midnight Pearls, it has a pretty cover!

I love the "Once Upon A Time" series, they always have such creative twists on the fairytales they are retelling, and they always leave you feeling so happy ever after-y. So my vote goes for Midnight Pearl.
