Remember how I said last week that my happy was short lived for the newly-bound Thirst, Christopher Pike's compilation that's being re-released and how I decided to get the originals? Well I got two of the three! *squee* Oh yeah. Happy's back! I'm just waiting on the third.
Alisa Perne is a five-thousand-year-old vampire. For ages she has hunted humanity, loved humanity, but now someone hunts her. Who is this person--what is he or she? Another vampire? Alisa is not sure. She thought she was the last of her kind.
Alisa has only one lead to follow. A detective, Mike Riley, has tried to blackmail her. In haste, before she could learn everything he knew, she killed him. Now she must go after the detective's son and find out what his father knew. Fifty centuries old, and she must enter high school and befriend Ray Riley, a handsome, shy boy who will attract her like no mortal has in centuries. Ray will make Alisa think the unthinkable, to make another of her kind, something she hasn't done since ancient times.
But will Alisa use Ray to help protect her from the mysterious enemy? Or will she just use him as bait? (book back blurb)
Alisa and her partner, Ray, thought that they were the last vampires. Suddenly, however, in one area of the United States, there is a series of brutal murders that can only be the work of other vampires. Who created these creatures? How can they be stopped? (book back blurb)
And this one I actually requested from the publicist. I read a chapter preview I got from BEA and after I stopped drooling, I hit the email. I had to have it. And they were willing to give it! Since it comes out September 8th, it's next on my TBR list! Yay! The only downer is that because it's an ARC, it's lacking the artwork that the release will have. And judging by the cover alone it's going to be gorgeous!
What if? Why not? Could it be?
When a fortuneteller's tent appears in the market square of the city of Baltese, orphan Peter Augustus Duchene knows the questions that he needs to ask: Does his sister still live? And if so, how can he find her? The fortuneteller's mysterious answer (an elephant! An elephant will lead him there!) sets off a chain of events so remarkable, so impossible, that you will hardly dare to believe it’s true. With atmospheric illustrations by fine artist Yoko Tanaka, here is a dreamlike and captivating tale that could only be narrated by Newbery Medalist Kate DiCamillo. In this timeless fable, she evokes the largest of themes — hope and belonging, desire and compassion — with the lightness of a magician’s touch. (from bn.com)
And these came in the mail last week. They actually arrived with my other three books that I got then but I was too lazy to put them up. But guys, when I say I'm 12 on the inside, I mean it. I mean, I saw these things and just fell in love with them. They kind of give me goofy feet syndrome becaue they're skater shoes so they're a little wide but I'm all drooly over the colors. I so heart DC Shoes right now.
And, um, I haven't tied my sneakers in close to 10 years. I actually remember the last time I did it--senior year of high school running the weightman's relay for track. I was 17. It's been 9 years. I still refuse.

Great books you got this week. Hope you enjoy reading all your books.
Those are fun shoes...I so couldn't pull those off lol!
Great books too :D
I LOVED Christopher Pike back in the day! The Last Vampire and the Remember Me series were my favorites. I actually still have all his original books. I thought there were more than 3 Last Vampire books though? I was so excited when I saw Christopher Pike had a new book coming out, until I saw it was just a reissue. I might have to go back and reread them now. Thanks for the reminder of how great they were!
Oh! I do love those sneakers.
I read the Christopher Pike books when I was like...12, lol..I can't even remember them anymore! I'm more than likely going to pick them up again, especially knowing that my bestest gay friend will probably buy the reissue and then give it to me when he's done! Those shoes are quite...vivid, lol. I could never pull something like that off, and I hate sneakers! I'm a flip flop gal, which really sucks during the winters here in PA.
Christopher Pike is the shizzle. I'm so glad his books are being re-leased. And yeah, there are more than 3 Last Vampires books. 6, I think.
