I have successfully killed dead one laptop and two desktop computers this year alone. I've left 3 other laptops in my wake. I may be forgetting some.
I'm so fed the fuck up with technology I want to cry. We can put a man on the fucking moon and make a Chevy last for 65 years. God forbid we create a computer that doesn't fail after 2. Thanks, capitalism.
So aside from a dead desktop (which functioned as my main computer after I killed my laptop a few months ago), my wireless router fried after a power surge. My dad, aka the life saver, gave me the one I'm using now, which travels at the speed of sludge. But it's better than nothing. As is the 10 year old laptop I'm currently using.
Thing is I can do 98% of my internet stuff on my iPod Touch. Except blog. And graphic design. The Touch didn't come with a CD-Rom to install that software. Well, I guess technically I can blog on the iTouch but I can't link anything, I can't load pictures, I can't really format. Basically I can't do anything worthwhile. So this stone tablet will have to do.
I can feel a migraine coming on. Or my brain's just on the verge of oozing out of my ears.
I may just have to break down and go out and buy a Mac. I can't fucking take it anymore. I'm up to like 7 dead computers in just as many years. Obviously it's time to upgrade and from what I've heard, Mac's don't have these problems. I just really hate the Apple store at my local mall. It's ridiculous.
I was planning on posting an Added to the Pile but that's going to have to wait until tomorrow. Right now I need to go drink myself into a stupor. Excuse me.

Aww...I'm so sorry honey. Computer problems suck. I hope things manage to fix themselves soon!
Computers, in and of themselves, are evil. I kill technology like it's my job...though I've yet to kill a Mac. They're absurdly pricey, but they're totally worth it :)
I am totally trying not to laugh, but the way you are carrying on is just way too freaking hilarious. I am so sorry for your troubles. My IT hubster bails me out every time this happens to me. It's odd how I can have any other kind of trouble and it phases me not even a little, but when I have computer problems it's an epic disaster and the world could just go ahead and stop spinning cuz I am so done.
Good Luck.
Macs are definitely worth the extra cost, since I've had mine for five years with no problems at all. The only PC I've ever owned crashed after almost one year, and I didn't even have a desktop to use, so I had to do all my online stuff at the local library, which is closed three days a week, holidays, and whenever else they feel like it :( I totally get where you're coming from.
Hope you can get a better comp soon!

I've had my Macbook for three years now and it seems to still be going strong. It only gave me problems once or twice (apple question mark screen of death?) but, if I let it sit and made sure to sleep it before closing the top, it's been a perfect little trooper.
But good Lord, don't you love an excuse to drink yourself into a stuper? I know I do :) I think I'm going to go the Mac route too...but its like being right handed your whole life and someone forcing you to go left huh????
Yeah, my dad's the computer guy. He actually built this last one and it ran fantastic . . . until it died. I'm looking at Apple towers on eBay. I have a few on watch. I'm just waiting for my dad's feedback as to which is the best for the price. They're refurbished and hovering around $300 but right now, I just can't justify splurging $2500 at minimum on a computer. That hurts.
Since my laptop was officially announced as dead yesterday, I know where you're at.
*hugs*
Tech is so stupid. My lappy wasn't cheap, and now (got to get more quotes), I'm pretty sure it isn't worth the expense to fix, and easier to put the money into buying a new desktop.
