Book Wars (19)

After took home the prize last week. This week is a battle of the bodiless. Thanks to barbrafl for this pairing too. FIGHT!

Madison Stanton doesn’t know where she is or how she got there. But she does know this — she is dead. And alone, in a vast, dark space. The only company she has in this place are luminescent objects that turn out to be all the things Maddy lost while she was alive. And soon she discovers that with these artifacts, she can reexperience — and sometimes even change — moments from her life.

Her first kiss.

A trip to Disney World.

Her sister’s wedding.

A disastrous sleepover.

In reliving these moments, Maddy learns illuminating and sometimes frightening truths about her life — and death. (from bn.com)

vs.

When we first meet 14-year-old Susie Salmon, she is already in heaven. This was before milk carton photos and public service announcements, she tells us; back in 1973, when Susie mysteriously disappeared, people still believed these things didn't happen.

In the sweet, untroubled voice of a precocious teenage girl, Susie relates the awful events of her death, and her own adjustment to the strange new place she finds herself. (It looks a lot like her school playground, with the good kind of swingset.)

With love, longing, and a growing understanding, Susie watches her family as they cope with their grief--her father embarks on a search for the killer, her sister undertakes a feat of amazing daring, her little brother builds a fort in her honor--and begin the difficult process of healing. Haven't read either, but I am going with The Everafter. Great cover and the premise sounds more intriguing.

I haven't read either one, but I have seen the movie for The Lovely Bones, so I'm going to have to go with that one!

Susie Salmon was a very likable character, and her story was extremely sad :(

I haven't read The Everafter but I loved The Lovely Bones, haven't seen the movie yet, and it was an awesome read.

Hey guys, just in case you missed it on the last post, choosing which one is now solely based on what you see above, a combination of cover and blurb. This way more people can vote and you don't have to have read either of them!

Both of these sound great! And the covers look fantastic. I love the color purple for The Everafter. I haven't read either one but I would love to read The Everafter. My pick goes for that one! =)

Though the cover on The Everafter is gorgeous, I'd have to go with The Lovely Bones.

I have not read Everafter yet, but The Lovely Bones is an amazing novel.

I've read both of these, and I liked them both. Definitely would go with The Lovely Bones, based on the book itself. But based on the info and bookcovers, I would've picked Everafter.

I don't think my copy of The Lovely Bones has that description on the back cover. But it's been awhile since I read it, so I could be wrong.

They're both amazing, but I liked the concept of the Everafter better.

I have a feeling I'm going to be yelled at, but I have to vote for THE EVERAFTER. I loved this book so much. THE LOVELY BONES was lost on me about halfway through. I couldn't keep reading :|
