I just received one book this week, Never After by Dan Elconin. He contacted me not too long ago asking me if I'd like to take a read of his book. As it turns out he started writing this when he was 14 and is only 19 now. It's a rendering of Peter Pan with a heap more vulgarity and a character with a penchant for penis jokes. Well, needless to say, he had me at penis jokes. It's always nice to know that my brain's on the same wavelength as that of a teenage guy. Awesome.
Leaving everything behind for the Island was Ricky's dream come true. When his happily ever after is not quite what it seems, he discovers that running away means running towards bigger problems.
Trapped on the Island, Ricky must join together with the only people he can trust to help him face his fears and return home. But the only way off the Island is to confront the person who trapped Ricky and his friends in the first place. With countless enemies and true peril staring them down, Ricky's mission to leave this so-called paradise will become a battle for their very lives. (book back blurb)
