2011 Old School YA Reading Challenge

COMPLETED

If you're familiar with my blog at all, then you know about my Freaky Friday feature that highlights one old school piece of horror of the YA variety published between 1980 and 1999 a week. Why? Because the market now is so unbelievably lacking in good YA horror and I yearn for those days when there was a bit of a flood of it. And it's because of my feature that I've started collecting all those old school copies of YA horror and I've developed a little bit of a pile already.

So when I saw The Book Vixen's YA of the 80s and 90s Reading Challenge, if course I jumped all over it. I do, after all, have a stack of books waiting in the wings to be read that fit this mould exactly. So for now I'll start with 10 although I have a few more than that in my TBR pile. We'll see how the year goes.

When you're trying to cope with something, going as emo and angst-ridden as humanly possible is the only viable mechanism to use. Don't worry. Your ugly-ass style and bad hair won't piss anyone off. No really. Neither will your craptastic attitude. I swear.

80s Awesomeness! ~ 91

Back in the 80s, a movie was released called Tron about a video game with a mind of its own. What better way to capitalize on product placement than actually creating a video game based off of the movie? Bam! Tron was born. Again. So if you loved the movie, you could now place the video game too, although the graphics weren't as good. You can play it too by going here. Don't get too blown away now.

Wasn't the last one like this? Someone wanted something from a specific set of people and then those people started dying? What's the deal with that? And why is it always cheerleaders? Although I have to say the book cover is a win. Freaky ass doll thing.

All 2010 Reading Challenges Completed!

And I'm winded over here! I almost didn't think I'd make the YA Reading Challenge in time and if I didn't, I would have missed it by a single book. That would have rendered some serious self-ass-kicking. But I did it. I only participated in three this year, the Fantasy Reading Challenge, the Young Adult Reading Challenge and the Historical Fiction Reading Challenge. In 2011 I'm doing quite a few more but I have an epic shitload of books to read and since I can overlap all of the challenges, it's going to work out in the end and I won't be scrambling around on December 30th trying to wolf down books. I'll post those lists posts probably this weekend. I was going to do it tonight but it's already after 10 and I'm tired.
