Using the term 'Titanic' in reference to a book is one hell of a marketing ploy.  People will eat it right up.  But if you're going to use it be sure to actually include something substantial about the ship in the story.  No one wants to read what they're told is a story about the Titanic when it's barely more than a headline in a passing newspaper in the plot.  Hulk likes to smash things like that.

Woods are creepy.  This I've known.  But my readings only further solidify my feelings that there's far too much shit in the woods that can hide behind trees and shrubbery and kill you dead.  This is why I'm moving to the desert.  Big open expanse of nothing.  No sneaking, no sleuthing and most saguaros aren't big enough to hide behind and one certainly can't climb them.  I'll take it.

When all else fails and you've been thoroughly shoved from society, it's time to become a poser.  Because obviously being you just didn't work out.  Now find a niche, adopt the appropriate hair color and attempt to blend.

No matter how many words you have, how tiny their type face or how small the margins, they can all be forgettable.  Which means I have a void in my memory better used for other things.  Like cute animals.

Details schmetails.  That's the genius of writing fiction!  Even if it's contemporary you can just make shit up as you go along to better serve your plot.  Not how something works in the real world that totally effs with your story?  Screw it.  YOU ARE GOD OF THE REAL WORLD.

Mary Sues are now absolutely sought after in YA fiction.  No longer are they sneered at and reviled.  People actually want to READ them, BE them.  Super smart, super beautiful, wicked with a sword and an ego the size of the Titanic?  Yes, please.

Snark can exist, in abundance, in high fantasy and blend in seamlessly.  This makes me happy.  There's far too much naval-gazing going on in fantasy land.  It's nice to know the continuity of fuzz can be broken.
