You know, just based on that blurb alone it reminds me of a Supernatural episode from way back in the beginning about people sacrificing humans (after they plump them up) to a pagan god in the form of a scarecrow in order to gain bountiful harvests. Super creepy. As is that scarecrow on the cover. It'd send me screaming, that's for sure.
